MEPA permits petrol station in an Outside Development Zone (ODZ)

The Green Party (AD) is shocked that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) has given the go ahead for the development of a petrol station in an outside development zone (ODZ), which is clearly indicated by the same MEPA as a rural conservation area where no development should take place.

"This application should not have been considered let alone approved otherwise it is useless to have a Structure Plan and documents which are supposed to be guidelines for applications."

In his 3rd January reply to Parliamentary Questions on hunting in Spring in Malta, EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas has reconfirmed that Malta has not been given any derogation on Spring hunting.

Stavros Dimas stated that: "The Commission is aware of the existence of the document referred to as CONF-M 110/02, which is the European Union Common Position for Malta of 27 September 2002.

Greens bring up issue of alleged CIA flights in Malta in the EU parliament

'On the initiative of Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party Spokesperson on EU Affairs, Spanish Green MEP Raul Romeva i Rueda has brought up the issue of alleged CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) flights in Malta in the European Parliament.

In his Parliamentary question, Romeva i Rueda stated that CIA flights have reportedly touched down in EU (European Union) countries such as Spain, Sweden and Ireland.
